Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic and resistance exercise on insulin resistance, C-reactive protein, and physical fitness in middle-aged women with metabolic syndrome.

METHOD: Participants were randomly assigned combine exercise group(n=10), and control exercise group(n=10). The exercise group performed for 60 min(consisting of aerobic exercise for 30 min and resistance exercise 30 min) per day, for 3 day per, week for 12 weeks. Metabolic risk factor, insulin resistance, C-reactive protein and physical fitness were measured at before and after 12 weeks from each group.

RESULT: First, The metabolic syndrome risk factors(weight, %fat, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride, and HDL-Cholesterol) were significantly improved after 12 weeks exercise program. Second, The blood glucose, insulin, and HOMA-IR were significantly decreased after 12 weeks exercise program. Third, The C-reactive were significantly decreased after 12 weeks exercise program. Fourth, The physical fitness(VO2max, muscle strength and muscle endurance) were significantly increased after 12 weeks exercise program.

CONCLUSION: Combined exercise program has beneficial effects on insulin resistance, C-reactive, and physical fitness in middle-aged women with metabolic syndrome.
